Prevention is still a lot better that any corrective eyeglasses and eye supplements. Avoid having to wear geeky-looking, thick glasses by protecting your eyes, literally. You can do this by choosing the right protective sunglasses. Look for sungalsses that tells you how much UV protection the glasses offer. Ideally, your sunglass should block 99% to 100% of UV radiation. This means that the glasses will block 95% of UV radiation. UV radiation can cause irritation and even cataract in the long run. Dark colored sunglasses don’t necessarily protect you better. Gray, green, and brown lenses usually give better protection than other colors. More expensive designer shades may be more fashionable, but they don’t necessarily provide more protection. If you do decide to go for designer sunglasses, remember to look for the UV-protection label.

Close-fitting eyewear help block light more effectively. Look for wraparound shades or large lenses. Yellow or brown tinted lenses are more effective at counteracting the ‘blue’ glare on snow. That is the reason why most hobby-related and sports-related eyewear (dive masks, ski goggles, swim goggles) are made with the said color lenses. You can even have sunglasses and goggles fitted with prescription lenses.

For people who already use glasses, you can still lessen the gravity of damage to your eyes by performing eye exercises and relaxation techniques daily to increase optical muscle strength and coordination. Just take 30 minutes of your day to relax and rest your eyes by closing them for 10-15 minutes, and then rotating your eyes slowly for 2-3 minute to loosen tensed muscles on the eye sockets.

Awareness of healthy habits is also an important part of eye care. Watching TV, computer use, reliance on optical correction from glasses and contacts, as well as the normal aging process, all contribute to weak and distorted vision. Heavy alcohol consumption damages vision; and so do fat-concentrated food. The eyes have a very great need for oxygen and quality nutrients. A high-fat diet can restrict blood flow to the eyes (and all other parts of the body), and is directly related to incidence of macular degeneration.

Prolonged use of computers is one of the most common reasons for poor vision. Though your glasses can lessen the glare from the computer, a day of rest from the monitor still goes a long way. If daily computer use is unavoidable, then make sure you get a computer glare protector that can be attached to your screen. Wearing glasses with protective tints also helps lessen the stress on your eyes.

Mental health is the person’s emotional well-being or mental balance to realize the person’s abilities, capability to cope and productivity in making contributions to the community. It describes the capacity to express emotions and ability to adapt to the environment’s demands and changes.

It refers to the overall psychological well-being of a person. This includes the way a person feels about themselves, the value of their relationships, and their ability to handle feelings and manage difficulties. Just because a person do not have mental health problems does not mean that the person already has good mental health. Having a good mental health means having positive characteristics present in a person’s life.

People, who have good mental health usually have a feeling of contentment, can bounce back from drawbacks and adversity, flexible and willing to learn new things and to adapt to different kinds of changes, have a good balance in activity and rest, have self-confidence and have high self-esteem. To maintain or strengthen the mental health, it is important to evaluate a person’s needs and feelings. Keep a balance between everyday responsibilities and leisure. A mentally sound person means being able to deal with life’s challenges when it arises.

Try to stay calm by pleasing the senses. Listen to relaxing music or get a good massage to relax the body and the mind. Massages can reduce overall stress. People who are under a lot of stress are less healthy that people who are relaxed. Massage therapy has been a proven way to reduce stress.

Never forget to have some leisure time. When a person does something that feels good it balances the emotional and mental health of a person. Use this time to meditate and take a break from all the stress around. Appreciate beauty and positive blessings all around.

Learn how manage stress and keep it under control. Stress is a part of life and cannot be avoided but knowing an effective stress management strategy will help in bringing and keeping a good life balance. Build good relationship and connect with other. Having a good long-term relationship with others can help in keeping life balance. This also helps in improving a person’s emotional intelligence which is good in resolving conflicts.

There have been many therapeutic methods and books that offer to improve a person’s mental health. But it is important to remember that every person is different. What may work for others may become too stressful to another. So it is better to know oneself before following everything that other people may say.

Health vision is something many of us take for granted, and if your eyesight has always been good, you may have never been to an optometrist. As we age though, the body requires more and more maintenance and this includes your eyes. People with bad eyesight are familiar with seeing an eye doctor, but everyone needs to take care of their eyes so they last as long as you do. There are many ways to take care of your eyes and most of them are just common sense, like don’t stick things in them. Other things are not so obvious but can have long lasting effects.

Diet can have an affect on healthy vision, although there is some argument as to how much. Vitamin C and E, along with calcium and folic acid can help you avoid macular degeneration and cataracts. There are also many different types of eye drops that do various things, like helping cataracts and glaucoma, but many optometrists say that regular eye drops bought off the store shelf can actually hurt your vision. Swimming can have an adverse affect on your vision, but it depends on the individual and most doctors agree that it takes years of constant exposure. Other environmental concerns include airborne pollution and other chemicals in enclosed spaces, which can also slowly degrade your vision over time.

Seeing an eye doctor is also a part of good vision health and is also the most overlooked by people with good eyesight. Newborns are usually checked at birth and again at 6 months. Children are due at ages 3, 6 and 13, but they will need to go more often if there is a family history of vision problems or if a problem is found during a routine checkup. Adults older than 18 need to go every 3 years until they turn 40; then they need to go every 2 years or as often as the optometrist recommends depending on how fast their sight is diminishing. Many late vision problems can now be corrected with LASIK surgery if you have the money or the insurance and you are looking for a more permanent solution than thicker glasses.

To offset the cost of vision care, especially if your eyesight is bad, many people have some type of vision plan. Health insurance usually includes some type of vision benefits, but they don’t cover much or there is a large deductible. Discount plans are also an option, and they can also provide savings on expensive procedures like LASIK eye surgery. You can also get a vision plan directly from some vision providers which can be the perfect solution if you only need vision insurance.

Cigarette smoking is harmful especially for teenagers as their body is in developmental stage. Teen smokers can develop smaller lungs, weaker hearts, and other health complications. Although active smoking is associated with various harmful health effects, studies have shown that passive smoking can also cause coronary heart diseases, chronic respiratory problems, lung cancer etc. One cigarette smoked reduces the lifespan of individual by 11 minutes.

Composition of Cigarette
A cigarette smoke contains around 4000 chemical compounds and around 69 of them can cause cancer. A cigarette smoke also contains 43 chemical compounds that are identified are carcinogens. Apart from Nicotine which is the basic chemical in a cigarette that causes addiction, some of the harmful chemicals found in cigarette smoke are carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, hydrogen cyanides, ammonia etc. Cigarette smoke is also found to have mutagens which are chemical compounds that cause mutations in genes. A single puff releases these harmful chemicals in the body and is responsible for various health effects and lung cancer.

Harmful Effects on Body
Cigarette smoking is responsible for significant number of cancer related deaths. The person who smokes cigarettes is at the risk of contracting cancer of lungs, larynx, oral cavity, pharynx, esophagus etc. Short term effects of smoking include respiratory problems, nicotine addiction, and addiction to other drugs. The carbon monoxide in cigarette smoke reduces the oxygen level in blood. Lack of oxygen in blood then affects the functioning of vital organs like brain, heart, lungs etc. Smoking also increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases and stroke. Long term exposure to smoking can result in lung cancer, low levels of lung functioning, reduced rate of lung growth etc. Physical effects of smoking include reduced stamina, performance, and endurance. Smoking also makes a person looks older as it depletes the vitamin A levels in the body. Teenage smokers experience shortness of breath three times more than non-smoker teenagers.

Smoking may result into chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases (COPD) like bronchitis and emphysema. Smoking cigarettes or tobacco use during pregnancy has harmful effects on both the mother and unborn baby. It increases the risk of pregnancy related complications. Even passive smoking is damaging for the health of infants and children and they can suffer from respiratory problems like asthma, nose and throat infection etc.

Difficulty to Quit Smoking
Smokers find it difficult to quit smoking due to physical, mental, or emotional side effects that arise when they try to quit smoking. When smokers try to quit smoking they may feel craving, anxiety, irritability, intestinal disorder etc. People may also feel changes in emotions, temper changes, inability to focus etc. Difficulty to quit smoking arises as the body is accustomed to nicotine addiction and sudden withdrawal causes these side effects. People who want to get rid of smoking should quit the company of friends who are smokers. They should join groups who have quit smoking or trying to quit. Support from family and friends prove beneficial at this state. Strong will power and motivation will help the people to withstand these side effects.

There are more chances that teenagers who start smoking at early age are likely to continue smoking in older age and abuse drugs or alcohol. Teenagers should be made aware of harmful effects of smoking on their health. Awareness drives and anti-smoking campaigns at schools and colleges can help prevent teenagers from taking up smoking.

Fats are often viewed with a negative connotation in regards to health. They are associated with heart disease, high cholesterol, and obesity. In the past, diets have been based around trying to eliminate the amount of fats that are consumed. However, recent studies have discovered that they are actually necessary in order to remain healthy.

The different kinds of fats…

Fats are broken down into three groups- saturated fats, mono-unsaturated fats, and poly-unsaturated fats. Poly-unsaturated fats are then further broken down into two groups- omega 3 and omega 6 fats. Each type of fat is equally important to the body because the body uses the different types for different things. Most foods that are found in nature contain a combination of the three. Some foods that are high in saturated fats are butter, cheese, milk, and coconut. Foods that are high in mono-unsaturated fats include avocado, nuts, and olive oil.

Omega 3 and omega 6 fats are especially important because they contain essential fats that the body cannot make on its own, so you need to obtain them from an outside source. Ideally, the consumption of omega 6 to omega 3 fats should be in a 2:1 ratio. With a high consumption of omega 6 fats, it is important to try to balance the ratio by increasing consumption in omega 3 fats. Some foods that are high in omega 3 fats are walnuts, flax seeds, sardines, and cold water fish, such as salmon.

The bad fats…

Fats are good when they are natural and in unprocessed foods. They become bad after they are damaged by exposure to heat, light, and oxygen. Fats are often damaged during food processing, when they are exposed to the high heats and chemicals that are used by the manufacturers. Partial hydrogenation is a process that is used to give oils a longer shelf life, which damages the fats and creates Transfat. Transfat is a normal fat molecule that has been deformed during the hydrogenation process. It is not normal to the body, so the body does not know how to process it. Studies have linked Transfat with many health risks, including heart disease and cancer. Manufacturers are now required to include Transfat on nutrition labels. Some foods that contain this bad type of fat are margarine, fried fast food, doughnuts, and processed foods that contain partially hydrogenated oils.

How the good fats are excellent for your health…

* Fats are used in all parts of the human body. They compose 60% of the brain and are essential to brain functioning. This includes moods, memory retention, and learning abilities.
* The heart also uses fat to function. 60% of the heart’s energy comes from burning fat. It is also used to keep the heart beating on a regular rhythm.
* The lungs require a high level of saturated fats in order to work correctly and keep from collapsing.
* Fats insulate nerves and well-insulated nerves are able to transmit chemical signals faster.
* Fats help slow down the digestion process, which gives the body more time to absorb the food’s nutrients. This also keeps you feeling full longer.

How to get good fats into your diet…

Eating good fats is essential to a healthy diet and there are many ways to incorporate them into your meals. Eat natural foods that have not been through any processing with heat. This includes raw nuts, seeds, avocados, or olives. Cook with oils that have been processed as little as possible. Make your own salad dressings using pure oils. Make sure you get enough omega 3 fats into your diet. Avoid animal fats. And finally, avoid foods that contain partially hydrogenated oil.

Sexual performance is a sensitive issue. If you have a problem or merely wish for improved performance then you never know exactly which route you should take. You could take advantage of late night television infomercials, or you could go to your doctor to see about possible prescriptions that could help your cause. Or you could go with a third option.

Sexual Problems

As stated previously, sexual problems are a delicate matter. Sexuality itself is often a topic that remains by closed doors so inadequate sexual functioning is often not something the people wish to discuss openly. While these problems often have a completely logical medical basis, the implications for a person’s efficacy in the sexual arena often keep individuals from speaking of such problems openly. These individuals merely want to treat their sexual problems or to enhance their sexual performance quietly. This makes problems such as these ideal candidates for herbal treatment regimens.

This one possibility in the spectrum of herbal remedies for impotence. It is being heralded as the new solution to a spectrum of sexual issues and, as an herbal remedy, is a more natural way to approach issues of sexual satisfaction and performance. Most people do not want to risk unnatural means to provide assistance in this area. Rather, they only wish to help everything to work as it should

Herbs For Impotence

Muira puama herb is one of those men’s health herbs for treating impotence that can be taken to improve sexual functioning. Studies have shown that the use of this herb has resulted in significant increases in both erectile function and in the area of sexual desire. In fact, this herb is even referred to as “potency wood” due to its sexual enhancement properties.

For an herbal remedy with no known side effects beyond a foreseeable slight rise in blood pressure, this herb is impressive. Side effects are often one of the main concerns with any sexual enhancement substance because uncontrollable sexual side effects and a loss of control in this area of life are exactly what someone in this position is trying to avoid. If its use is carried out over a long period of time then it may have the added benefit of helping ensure the proper production of sex hormones for both men and women.

Muira puama herb and other such herbs for impotence could be the answer to sexual problems and performance issues for men and women. Sexuality is a natural part of life and men’s health herbs for treating impotence can allow for the enjoyment of this natural appetite. They can help nature take its course.

Women need specific vitamins because at different stages of their lives, their bodies experience many drastic physiological changes that men don’t experience. This means that their need for a good and nutritious diet and supplementation are basic to their good health. Some of the body changes that women experience which may require choosing the right vitamins for women’s health are discussed below:

PMS

When women go through PMS, they may experience mood swings, bloating, and irritability. At such a time, choosing the right vitamins for women’s health is crucial. This is when she needs Vitamin B-6 in doses of about 50-100 mg which helps to keep both the depression and nausea at bay. Vitamin B-6 also helps if women experience memory loss, and heart disease, by producing hormones and brain chemicals that help strengthen their immunity.

Pregnancy

If women have upset stomachs due to pregnancy, they can take Vitamin B6 which helps with nausea. Many women and doctors have discovered that turning to this vitamin is oftentimes the only thing that helps morning sickness. Women can also take Folic Acid when pregnant, which prevents neural tube deficits.

Pregnant women can benefit greatly from taking cod liver oil, which is a great source of Vitamins A, D and K, and Vitamin B2 or Riboflavin. These nutrients found in cod liver oil can guard against preeclampsia, which can be fatal for both new mothers and their babies.

Breastfeeding

Once women have given birth, it’s time to breastfeed their newborns. But though mother’s milk is filled with an abundance of nutrition, it has been found to be deficient in Vitamin D. However, this can be offset by the mother taking cod liver oil during her pregnancy.

This helps in the baby’s brain development and provides sufficient doses of Vitamin K which assists in bone-building. At this time too, consuming the proper nutrients for women’s health is absolutely critical since women now have the baby’s health and development to worry about.

Menopause

As women get older and reach menopause, they need to be particular of their vitamin intake. Here, again, choosing the right vitamin for women’s health involves taking additional nutrients such as Vitamin E. As an a antioxidant, Vitamin E counteracts the effects of DNA damage which can cause cells to age and guards against heart disease, cancer, memory loss, cataracts, and also improves immunity.
